SimoTech Acquired by Project Farma, Bringing End-to-End GMP Automation and Digital Manufacturing Capabilities to Life Sciences Customers Worldwide

Acquisition brings together PerkinElmer’s Project Farma’s CQV, project delivery, and quality expertise with SimoTech’s DCS, MES, SCADA, and GMP IT experience to strengthen global manufacturing services platform.

Cork, Ireland, August 11, 2026 – Project Farma, PerkinElmer’s leading provider of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing services, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire SimoTech, a trusted provider of manufacturing automation and GMP IT solutions to the life sciences industry. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Cork, Ireland, SimoTech has grown to become the largest Irish-owned automation and manufacturing IT company, serving 10 of the top 20 global pharma and biotech manufacturers. SimoTech partners with multinational life science organizations to design, build, and operate critical process automation systems that fast-track project delivery and provide operational efficiency and manufacturing agility, while achieving regulatory compliance.

This acquisition marks the latest step in Project Farma’s expansion of its manufacturing and engineering solutions platform, further solidifying its standing as a premier provider of life sciences engineering and technical services, helping customers accelerate the manufacturing of life-saving treatments and bringing therapies to patients faster worldwide. Project Farma’s expertise spans facility commissioning, qualification and validation (CQV), project management, scheduling and controls, and quality, regulatory and compliance. These capabilities have made it a trusted partner for the industry’s most complex challenges. SimoTech brings the automation, digital manufacturing, and GMP IT capabilities customers have sought most consistently. Together, the platforms offer a complete end-to-end solution from strategic planning and project execution to operational readiness and ongoing operations.

Pat Desmond, SimoTech Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Joining Project Farma is a transformational chapter for SimoTech. For more than a decade, we’ve built our reputation by partnering with the world’s leading biopharma manufacturers to design, build, operate, and optimize their most critical automation and digital systems. That mission hasn’t changed, and neither have the teams our customers rely on. Joining Project Farma gives us the global reach, commercial infrastructure, and resources to deliver for our customers at a scale that maximizes our impact worldwide.”

“SimoTech’s capabilities are a natural complement to Project Farma’s platform. Together, we are well positioned to offer customers a more complete, integrated manufacturing services solution” said Rich Tree, Project Farma President. “For a company founded on the belief that better manufacturing means faster access to life-saving treatments, this acquisition is a direct expression of our mission”, he concluded.

SimoTech’s customer teams, relationships, and ways of working will continue unchanged as SimoTech joins Project Farma, with existing customers receiving the same expert support from the team that has earned their trust.

The transaction is expected to close following the satisfaction of customary closing conditions, including receipt of applicable regulatory approvals.

70 jobs announced at Irish Process Automation Firm

SimoTech expands as it supports biosciences industry growth.

SimoTech, the largest Irish-owned process automation services and Manufacturing IT systems company for the pharma/biotech sector, has today announced the creation of 70 new jobs over the next two years. These jobs will be based in Ireland, including Carrigaline, Co Cork, where SimoTech has expanded to a new headquarters to facilitate its continued growth. 20 of these jobs will support SimoTech’s overseas work from Ireland, including its first contract in Singapore, working with a large vaccine provider on a major capital project in the APAC region.

An Taoiseach Micheál Martin welcomed the announcement and said: “SimoTech is a shining example of the type of technical innovation Ireland has to offer, and I’m delighted to see it expand its global footprint while creating high-skilled jobs at home. Biotech and pharma are crucial sectors for the Irish economy and having home-grown companies of the calibre of SimoTech is essential to that success.”

Pat Desmond, CEO of SimoTech, said: “SimoTech is an integral player in the global supply chain for pharmaceutical products, and in engineering the vital technologies that support their manufacture. Over the last three years, demand for automation expertise has allowed us to expand at a rate of 30% each year, doubling our client base. We have trebled our revenue to €14 million in 2020 and doubled our staff numbers in the last three years.“

Working with some of the largest biotech and pharma companies in the world, SimoTech has 85 staff working on projects across Ireland, the United States, Puerto Rico, Germany, and Singapore. The new roles will be created in the areas of Process Automation, Computer System Validation, Labs Informatics, IT Infrastructure and Project Management.

Mr Desmond added: “These new roles are just the first step, as we look at expanding our footprint in the years ahead across Europe, the US, and Asia, while still building from Cork. By embracing smart manufacturing technology, we are now able to provide 24/7, remote services to our clients, anywhere in the world. During the pandemic, that allowed these corporates to keep their plants operating, even when site visits were not possible due to restrictions. By providing these vital services remotely, we are also able to expand our business abroad while still supporting job creation at home in Ireland.”

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar TD said “The creation of these 70 new jobs over the next two years is really positive news for SimoTech. Many of these high-quality jobs will be based in the company’s new headquarters in Carrigaline, Co Cork, which will be a huge boost for the local community and economy. Congratulations to the entire SimoTech team. I wish them every success with this expansion.

Martin Corkery, Regional Director for the South and South East at Enterprise Ireland, said: “Today’s announcement is a sign of major growth both in the company and in Ireland’s life sciences sector, which has demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout the pandemic. SimoTech is a great example of a true Irish success story, which has gone from strength to strength since it was founded just ten years ago. We look forward to continuing to work with the company and wish the team well in their future endeavours.”
