I&C Engineer 1570
SimoTech is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support a large-scale biotechnology project based in Dublin. This role involves the design, implementation, and support of instrumentation and control systems hardware across both process and utility systems.
Working as part of a cross-functional project team, the I&C Engineer will contribute to the delivery of automation infrastructure, including DeltaV, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and PLC/SCADA/HMI platforms, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design engineer for Instrumentation and Control Systems hardware which includes field devices and instrumentation up to and including control panels and industrial HMIs.
- Support the design and specification of instrumentation and control systems hardware, including field devices, control panels, and industrial HMIs.
- Assist in the development and review of control system architecture drawings and network designs.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project documentation such as loop drawings, system block diagrams, specifications, and FAT protocols.
- Ensure proper communication and integration between field instruments and automation system controllers.
- Participate in equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), installation reviews, and MC Walkdowns.
- Support and coordinate instrument loop checks and field validation activities.
- Collaborate with automation, process, electrical, and project engineers to ensure successful project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal standards, including cGMP, EHS, and engineering procedures.
- Assist the project team in managing timelines and addressing technical issues as they arise.
- Support system turnover and documentation efforts during commissioning and qualification phases.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate deliverables to ensure alignment with project timelines, technical requirements, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Life Sciences.
- 5 + years of related work experience in a GMP Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical environment or equivalent.
- Expertise with instrumentation and control devices including PLC control.
- Expertise in calibration systems/programs (Procal).
- Experience of laboratory analytical equipment and utilities systems are an advantage.
- SME in instrumentation & control systems (such as, but not limited to Instrumentation, QBMS/NQBMS, DeltaV, SCADA, APC, DCS, PLCs, Calibration, Energy, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of cGMP requirements particularly as it applies to Sterile Drug Product manufacturing.
- Experience of the design and installation of industrial networks such as Ethernet IP, ProfiNet, Profibus as well as classic I/O (4-20mA & 24VDC).
- Working Model - Hybrid through December 2025, transitioning to fully on-site from January 2026.
