IT/OT Engineer 1556
SimoTech have an opportunity for an IT/OT Engineer to join our team, supporting one of our large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing clients, based in Cork. This role involves hands-on support and management of network infrastructure, server environments, and end-user hardware, including configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networks, Windows OS, Hyper-V virtualisation, and Dell systems. You’ll also be responsible for cybersecurity tasks, firewall management, and system documentation.
Applicants must have 10+ years’ experience in IT or OT projects & support environments. The role offers a hybrid working model, with four days spent onsite and one day working from home each week.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Cisco networking hardware, including Ethernet LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
- Install, configure, and support a variety of IT infrastructure components such as servers, workstations, Ethernet switches, wireless access points, NAS devices, thin clients, firewalls, and backup systems.
- Deploy and manage Windows operating systems across desktop and server environments (Windows 10/11, Server 2008–2022), including Active Directory domain and policy management.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting across operating systems, domain environments, networks, and hardware.
- Build, deploy, manage, and support Hyper-V virtualisation environments.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Dell server and workstation hardware.
- Deliver comprehensive support for network, OS, domain, hardware, and application issues.
- Contribute to IT and OT cybersecurity practices, including firewall configuration and management using Palo Alto and/or Cisco firewalls.
- Support the design and maintenance of network cabling infrastructure, including copper and fibre Ethernet systems.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including URS, DS, DDS, validation protocols, and verification records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering.
- 10+ years’ experience in IT/OT.Experience in a life sciences environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Extensive Windows OS & windows networks support experience.
- Networking experience including patching and cabling.
- Cisco networking experience.
- Hyper-V virtualisation experience is preferred.
- Some exposure to cybersecurity including any of the following: AV, OS patching, IPS, firewalls, whitelisting, SIEM is beneficial.
- Prior experience of writing URS, DDS, DS, etc.is desirable.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
