Automation Project Engineer
SimoTech are seeking an Automation Project Engineer to join our HQ Engineering team, based in Cork. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and growing business, where you will play a vital role in delivering world-class global engineering projects for our clients.
The ideal person will have previous hands-on automation experience, knowledge of the project lifecycle as well as strong organisational skills. You will support a diverse range of projects, including technical consultancy, system integration as well as front-end engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Front-End Engineering Responsibilities:
- The Project Engineer will contribute to projects from a technical design and implementation perspective, including vendor management, client engagement, project planning, tracking and reporting.
- Develop Front End Studies and Basis-of-Design documentation
- Create Scope of Work, User Requirements Specifications, System Architectures, Functional Specifications
- Review Vendor Proposals and participate in Technical Bid Analysis
Technical Consultancy Responsibilities:
- Generate obsolescence reports and lifecycle plans
- Implement data security & data integrity assessments
- Assist in system architecture design with support from technical consultants
System Integration Responsibilities:
- Track and report on the design and configuration of Process Control Systems
- Testing, commissioning and qualification
Project Support Responsibilities:
- Development and management of budgets, scope, schedule & quality
- Financial & earned value reporting
- Customer relationship management
Travel:
- Occasional travel to client sites for project scoping, implementation & reporting meetings
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience implementing and supporting automation systems for manufacturing organizations in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical or life sciences industries.
- A relevant technical qualification at third level or equivalent in Engineering or Science
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with customers
- Proven ability to demonstrate technical expertise, manage projects and collaborate effectively with others
- Ability to work autonomously across various technologies and project lifecycles
- Expertise in one or more of the following platforms: Rockwell, Siemens S7 and/or Emerson DeltaV platforms
- Knowledge of GMP, GAMP as well as Safety and Environmental Regulatory requirements
