Today we are very proud to wish Emerson Kirby the best of luck in this years’ Ironman Triathlon. Emerson has spent the last nine months training for the triathlon. He is on his way to Barcelona where he will partake in the gruelling event organized by the World Triathlon Corporation. The triathlon consists of:
- 86 km swim, followed by
- 25 km cycle, followed by
- 20 km run.
No breaks are allowed between each of these parts of the triathlon. It is widely considered as one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world.
The race kicks off this Saturday, 30th of September, at 7:00 a.m. The mandatory cut off time for each event is as follow:
- 2 hours 20 minutes to complete the 3.86 km swim
- 8 hours 10 minutes to complete the 180.25 km cycle
- 6 hours 30 minutes to complete the 42.20 km run.
Any participant who manages to complete the triathlon in these timings is deemed an Ironman.
Emerson started his preparations nine months ago training 12 hrs a week, swimming in local pools and rivers, cycling and running. He completed the training on 18 hrs training per week.
We at SimoTech admire Emerson’s commitment, dedication and passion and wish him the very best of luck in the event.
