SimoTech’s Very Own Iron Man

Not so long ago, we all wished Emerson Kirby the best of luck in his participation in the 2017 Iron Man Triathlon. We thought we would allow Emerson the chance to rest up having completed nine months of training and completing, what is widely considered as, one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world.

Emerson finished the Triathlon in a very impressive 10 hours and 49 minutes.

The single-lap, 3,800 meter swim off the beach of Calella was completed by Emerson in 1 hour and 5 minutes.

The 180 km bike was completed in 5 hours and 3 minutes.

The 42.2 km run from Calella to Calella-Santa Susanna was completed in 4 hours 29 minutes.

“I’m delighted to have completed the race and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I learned a huge amount about myself and racing a full distance Ironman.
I’d highly recommend this race to anyone thinking of doing an Ironman. The support on the course is amazing.” (Emerson Kirby)

Emerson’s words of advice:
1. Hire a good triathlon coach
2. Get a swim analysis completed asap
3. Trust your plan
4. Practice nutrition
5. If possible do a warm weather training camp(s)
6. Enjoy every second of the journey

“Now for the next challenge ……………..”

Emerson Well Done from all your colleagues here at SimoTech, you’re some mighty ‘IronMan’!
