Laboratory Systems IT Technical Lead

SimoTech requires a Laboratory Systems IT Technical Lead for a large scale biopharmaceutical project in Dublin. Candidates must have at least 8 years’ experience providing hands-on IT systems support in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.

Main Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the support of IT Application Systems, ensuring ongoing reliable, robust & compliant performance of the Laboratory IT systems.
  • Contribute to a high performance culture by recognising and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Manage a team of IT Laboratory Engineers, prioritising their work to meet the day to day requirements of the Laboratory, providing speedy issue management, troubleshooting.
  • Manage IT maintenance, Periodic Reviews and Performance Monitoring, Application back up and monitoring.
  • Manage issues using Services Management & Compliance Management tools.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders and ensure that IT is responsive to end user needs.
  • Develop a set of metrics to provide regular statistics on the performance of the IT Team and report out to IT and the Laboratory Management.
  • Manage and support any Deviations with an IT component and work with the end users, QA, CSV and effected groups to provide corrective actions.
  • Develop/Modify/Update SOPs/Work Instructions and Business Process and data flows for each system and its interfaces.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical problems as required. Ensure that any agreements with Vendors are in place.
  • Support end users, Laboratory Management and the IT team to assess and implement enhancements requests as needed by the business.
  • Create and manage knowledge documents for resolved incidents, so that this knowledge is available to the team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelors or Master Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or the Life Sciences.
  • At least 8 years’ experience providing hands-on IT systems support in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Experience of Laboratory IT systems solutions an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Proven success working well in a team environment with flexibility to react to changing business needs.
  • Experience of working with Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, Windows XP, Active Directory, Firewall setup, Anti-Virus, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure, networking protocols, switch configuration, databases.
  • Experience with designing information interfaces, data conversion, and network and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry Regulations (cGMP/cGLP). Strong working knowledge of 21 CFR 11 and EU Annex 11 compliance requirements.
