Delta V Automation Engineer

SimoTech requires an experienced Delta V Automation Engineer for our Client in Dublin. The Candidate will ideally have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing and supporting Delta V PCS for large manufacturing organizations in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Design Engineer for the process automation solution including integration to other systems such as MES and the Data Historian. During project phase the Engineer will work under the direction of the Senior Automation Engineer and with other area automation technical leads and team members to deliver the Automation solution.
  • Actively participates in the creation, review and approval of project deliverables such as design documents, configuration build, FAT, installation, SOP’s and validation activities as required by the Automation manager.
  • Responsible to ensure technical delivery of Automation systems as endorsed by leadership team to meet business and process objectives.
  • Contributes to the success of the Automation team for the project and other supporting vendors. This includes supporting the Automation Manager in the development of the Automation project execution plan, scope of work for the contract firms or specialists, working to engage the firms in conjunction with global procurement and provide technical guidance during the execution of the project.
  • Assures all design & project work is completed in compliance with all Regulatory requirements including, Quality (cGLP/GMP’s), EHS, Global Engineering, design & construction directives, requirements & procedures, as well as all Local/Federal Regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the turnover process to ensure compliance.
Experience/Background
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or the Life Sciences.
  • At least 5 years’ experience providing process control and information systems solutions and support to manufacturing organisations in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Experience during project delivery and/or operations support of highly integrated Automation systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with the Emerson DeltaV DCS is required.
  • Experience in Biotech Upstream, Downstream and supporting utility processes including CIP and SIP.
  • Experience in system design, configuration, and application of automated processes in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with vendor packaged automation equipment including Rockwell and Siemens PLC/SCADA platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience with designing information interfaces, data conversion, and network and infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of databases, data historians, reporting and analytic systems.
  • Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines. Good organising and planning skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills. Problem solver with a focus on achievement of overall project goals.
  • Proven success working well in a team environment with flexibility to react to changing business needs.
  • Ability to anticipate, evaluate and resolve multiple, simultaneous project issues, delays, and problems by utilising technical, project management, and business expertise.
  • Ensuring compliance with practices, policies, procedures, legal requirements and goals of project sponsors and approved methodologies, develop supporting documentation and monitor budget tracking/ timeliness/ scheduled resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry Regulations (cGMP/cGLP, OSHA, EPA/EQB) required.
